Our ‘DIY’ client in Scotia, NY undertook the daunting task of replacing his front porch floor and re-securing both columns on either side of his front steps. After removing the old floor, he began to install the floor and framing joists. During this time he noticed some “rot” issues on the columns. He decided then that due to the increasing work and his time restraints to reach out to us.
Our carpenter rebuilt the header at the top of the stairs, and while removing the siding on the front skirt, discovered significant rot there as well. All of the framing had to be rebuilt, and all of the boards replaced. The siding was then re-installed over the new construction. In the end the client decided to do their own painting work, but was very satisfied with the work done by our carpenter.
